The Ministry of Health and Health Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Al Basar International Foundation, announces a new campaign offering free cataract surgeries, which will take place from November 21 to December 3 at the Dr. Damián Epitie Monanga University Hospital in Bata.

This new mission builds on the campaign conducted in 2025, which took place in Malabo at the Sampaka General Hospital and in Bata at the Dr. Damián Epitie Monanga Hospital.

During that campaign, 6,942 patients were treated, and 674 underwent free cataract surgery. Follow-up care for the patients who underwent surgery showed satisfactory outcomes, confirming the success of the procedures performed.

This year, Al Basar’s specialized teams are returning to Equatorial Guinea to continue providing the population with access to specialized eye care.
