The Ministry of Health and Health Infrastructure is moving forward with the process of updating and technically validating the Health District Standards and Guidelines Manual (MANEDS) in preparation for the publication of its second edition, with the goal of adapting this tool to the current needs of the national health system.
The second edition incorporates lessons learned during the pilot phase, changes resulting from the expansion of interventions nationwide, and priorities identified in the country’s current health profile. It also broadens the manual’s scope of application: while the first edition was primarily focused on primary and secondary care, the second edition extends its coverage to all levels of care within the health system, in line with current needs for the organization and delivery of health services.
The update process also incorporates the Primary Health Care (PHC) approach and will allow for a review and strengthening of the technical content of the MANEDS to ensure better alignment with the population’s needs and the current context of health services.
The update of this second edition is part of the Ministry’s efforts to provide relevant technical tools adapted to the national context, which will help strengthen the planning, organization, and delivery of health services at the various levels of care.
Once the technical review is complete, the document will undergo the corresponding validation and approval process as a preliminary step to its implementation.
